The title “Moon over Miami” has been well used:

  • Moon over Miami, a musical comedy film from 1941 starring Don Ameche, Betty Grable and Robert Cummings;
  • Moon over Miami, a short-lived 1993 ABC comedy series starring Bill Campbell, Ally Walker, Agustin Rodrigues and Mario Marron;
  • Moon over Miami, a popular 1935 Jazz song written by Joe Burke and Edgar Leslie; and
  • Moon over Miami, one of the names for an egg and toast dish, also know as Egg in the Basket.

The above image, while close to being of the same title, will have to settle for “Moon over Marco Island” instead. The composition is a bit trite but I couldn’t pass up the moon and palm trees silhouette on a warm night on the Gulf of Mexico, shot with a long lens.

In case you’d enjoy a little appropriated Jazz with the photo I’ve included a bit of “Moon over Miami” by Doc Severinsen (Apple Quick Time Plugin required.) To those who can’t listen…sorry!

  1. A fine shot of the moon. I especially like the barely visible setting for the shot. The music added to
    the post’s quality. Nice one.

    • don, thanks. It was almost completely dark and clouds were rolling in. I was surprised the D700 did as good of a job distinguishing the palms from the background as it did. The palm silhouettes are actually quite sharp.
