Good in everything

Desert Sotol Plant Leaves

I’m drawn to organic designs in nature–as in the case of this full frame photo of the spiny leaves of the desert Sotol plant.

There’s something fascinating in the simplistic complexity created through the process of natural evolution. The fascination lies not in only its beauty, but of its imperfections and ultimate functionality. There is always more then what first meets the eye.

And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything. – William Shakespeare

I am a fan of these plants as well – from views like you have here to closeup macros. They offer a lot to study. Well seen image Earl.

Organic designs. I like that phrase and may use that myself as it aptly describes the art of nature.

I love these plants and miss them now that we are up in the mountains.

@Monte: Feel free to use the phrase, I’m sure I borrowed it from someone else! :-)

@Mark and @Anita: I totally agreed these are beautiful and intriguing plants. I wished I’d had more time on this particular day for photographing it, but we were trying to cover as much ground as possible so time had to be rationed.
