I’m not doing New Year Resolutions any longer. Oh, I have things I’d like to accomplish this coming year, but my priorities and goals will no doubt change as 2009 progresses. I believe 2009 will be a very interesting period (perhaps in the Chinese curse way.)
This makes three years of posting to Meandering Passage and [...]
Low Water at the Bull Hole:
I travelled to the near-by dam/river area (Bull Hole) this morning only to find that the water level had dropped significantly.
I was there about a week ago and water was overflowing along the entire dam. This morning, water was only coming from a couple of bypass gates at the bottom [...]
The woodsy scent of moist leaves and plants tinted with a hint of wood smoke filled the air as I slowly hiked down the path deeper into the woods. In the distance, I see wisps of fog hopefully rising from the as yet unseen river which from the map I knew to be there.

After checking with the big Christmas Elf himself, Christmas is still a “go” this year.
It has been confirmed that Santa Claus will operate this year without accepting a single penny of bailout money from the U.S. Government.

For the holidays my daughter drove in from Asheville, NC, this morning and shortly after her arrival we paid a visited to one of my favorite local photo spots. This was her first visit to the Bull Hole area and she seemed to enjoy it.
According to the high water marks, the water here was recently [...]
Last night my wife and I took a casual walk through downtown Salisbury (NC, USA) and along a couple of the historical area streets before setting down to a relaxing meal at one of the local restaurants.
The walk was welcomed after what seemed to both of us a long week and it gave me an [...]
The more I use my Nikon D700 camera the more I like it. However, according to Mike Johnson, Sony has made impressive inroads into the D-SLR world.
I’ve already been partially paid back from my first loan at Kiva. It feels good. I got turned on to Kiva by friends. It’s a site/organization which allows individuals [...]
As I took this photo I was thinking, here’s someone enjoying the moment. Many of us don’t take advantage of those moments when we have them.
My mind goes back to a recently read book where one of the characters used the line, “Do the day and let the day do you.”
With the added current stress [...]
