Resilience of Life

The Monday after we returned from our Alaskan cruise we drove to Fort Stevens Oregon State Part at the mouth of Columbia River, Oregon side.

There we walked to a beach along the river which appeared to have been recently swept by high tides or heavy rain runoff.

Viewed from a distance the beach looked desolate, almost lifeless covered as it was by piles of dark sand and driftwood. It look like an alien landscape.

Closer examination proved that to not be true. The driftwood photograph shows the recent “high tide” event was only a temporary setback with life quickly resurfacing.

Even when all seemed lost there was still life. I continue to be amazed at the resilience of life about us (Lucky for us considering man’s current overall lack of concern for his environment.)

There’s been periods or events in my own life that in the moment I judged as negatives or losses, they later showed themselves to be transitions and new beginnings. Life’s like that.
