Apple’s upcoming MobileMe service, replacing the existing .Mac offering, has yet to be released. However, some users are reporting proper e-mail forwarding with the @Me.com alias.
I confirmed this with my own .Mac account. This morning, a test email sent to “[My .Mac Name] @Me.com” was correctly forwarded to my current .Mac inbox.
The complete transition of [...]

Ordinary Situations

by Earl on June 30, 2008

in Photography

Do not wait for extraordinary circumstances to do good action; try to use ordinary situations. – Jean Paul Richter

With photography, I sometimes find myself falling into the trap of waiting for extraordinary circumstances.
I wait to take photos.
I will read about taking photos or study what others are doing with their photographs and tell myself that [...]

Subscription Culling Time

by Earl on June 27, 2008

in Blogging

For subscribing and reading blogs and news site feeds I use a software application, NetNewsWire, for Mac OS X. At least once a year I’ll go through my subscriptions and clean out ones I’m either no longer interested in or those no longer being updated.
Today I performed a brutal cleaning of my subscriptions, eliminating [...]

Unusual Router Behavior

by Earl on June 26, 2008

in Hardware, Observations

This morning I discovered my main computer wouldn’t connect to the Internet even through all the equipment seemed to be on and functioning. I looked at my IP address and routing table and it appeared as it should. Rebooting my computer, my network router and the cable modem didn’t help.

Last Friday morning I made a quick trip to a local store to pick up a few things we needed. I drove straight there, made a small purchase and returned directly home. I remained at home the rest of the day. That evening when my wife got off work she asked it I’d like to [...]

It’s What You See

by Earl on June 23, 2008

in Photography

It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.
Henry David Thoreau

I was thinking about a comment from my “Photography: New Eyes” post made by Bonnie Bruno, of Photo Buffet. She said “her best shots come from her own backyard-literally, and that it was a blessing to wander around there and see what [...]

I can remember while playing as a child in woods near my home that there was an abundant amount of moss. The moss was thick and could [...]

Contemplating OpenSUSE 11

by Earl on June 21, 2008

in Linux

Confession: I haven’t always been a Mac user and I still sometimes stray from the path.
I’ve an older Intel P4 PC (one I built years ago) that I keep around for various purposes. For one, I believe Linux has promise and occasionally I like to install some of the newer releases and [...]
