Now I’m using standard WordPress and while I know there could be some tailoring done to reduce queries, the only sure fired way to reduce the load would be to also reduce the traffic…. What’s made this especially frustrating is that I just recently moved my site from a server that the host said was full and slow to this current server and now I’m hitting another wall and being informed that it’s my problem?I very patiently went back to tech support and asked if there was anyway they could increase this limit because I did not have any feasible way to reduce the load at my end…. They also sent me a link to their other more expensive web hosting solutions such as Virtual Server Hosting. To make a long story short, I’m moving Meandering Passage from my current host and it’s Shared Server Hosting plan to a new host that offers Grid Server Hosting.

Finding the Web Host that fits

There are still some good free blogging web host around, such as Googles Blogger, however I know of several people who started with Blogger and wish they could leave but they are now tied to blogger because of their post history permalinks and archives that exists on the search engines.Positives: It’s a good way to get started…. Shared hosting does not scale well so that when you require higher performance or less limits you often have to relocate your site to a new server and purchase a new (more expensive) hosting plan.Grid HostingThis hosting utilizes newer technology to overcome some of the shortcoming of shared hosting…. Positives: This is a more affordable (beginning around $40-50 per month) solution then a dedicated server with most of the benefits such as root access.Negatives: Still sharing server resources so your site could be affected by another site hogging resources.Dedicated Server HostingWith dedicated hosting your site gets a server of it’s own.
