Linking is back, down with Gestures!

Robert Scoble recently responded to the question “Do A-list bloggers have a responsibility to link to others?” on “Scobleizer - Tech Geek Blogger”.¬† I applaud Robert’s answer and would wish that all other A-listers felt the same way.

Do A-list bloggers have a responsibility to link to others? ¬´ Scobleizer - Tech Geek Blogger:
I can’t speak for anyone other than myself, but, yes, I try to link out to as many people as possible. I got found because other people linked to me, and I view it as my responsibility to link to other people as well. I also leave my comments open so people can post their own opinions and links to things.

But tell me Robert, wasn’t it only last August that you were talking about “Gestures” and not having to link to anyone?

“I didn’t link to Fred Wilson’s blog. Why? Cause if you really cared you’d have read it by now, right? I assume my readers know how to use Google and TechMeme. Cause you’re smarter than me and I can find Fred in both places right now…”

“…Yeah, Steve Gillmor explained to me why NOT linking is better than linking. Tell me Fred, did your traffic from search engines go up today?”

So I guess now linking is back in style and gestures just didn’t work out!¬† Sometimes don’t you just hate that blog archive feature?¬† :-)
