Defining a successful blog

For those of us who may strive to write a blog with the improbable dream that it makes some small difference or influences someone, we are humbled before the real power of blogging.¬† The blog mentioned below doesn’t measure it’s success in number of visitors, pages viewed, or advertising dollars collected. It’s success is measured in lives changed for the better, or possibly even saved.

Botswana: positive impact of a village blog:
A medical student from Nata village in Botswana writes about the impact of the Nata village blog on him, “Before the establishment of this website I must confess that I was a bit naive in as far as the exact impact of HIV/AIDS in Nata. I read thru the website that almost 50% of pregnant women attending Nata clinic are HIV positive, and since my arrival late last month I have witnessed first had the impact of AIDS in my Village Nata.”

Thank you so much for recognizing our efforts. We are grateful to Jon Rawlinson for designing the site and even more grateful to the people of Nata for sharing their stories with the world. Melody Jenkins, technical advisor and blogger, http://www.natavillage.org
