A quiet weekend

I haven’t posted this weekend, even missed my normal “Five for Fun” links post today. Some of you might be thinking that was a lucky break for you. I was feeling the need to take a break this weekend.

Yesterday, while doing normal Saturday errands, my wife and I ended up buying a car. We are both very lucky in that our jobs come with company cars, so prior to yesterday we did not even have a car of our own. Now that may sound great and to a point it is. But it also can leave you feeling somewhat trapped. If all you have is a company car and something happens to your job then you are not only unemployed but also without transportation. Try getting a loan for a decent car without a job. I’d been having those feelings as of late.

Anyway, we ended up getting a basic 2006 4×2 Toyota RAV4. Decent gas milage, dependable, and plenty of room for the two of us and a bunch of stuff. It was the last day of the month and the last 2006 RAV4 they had on the lot. During conversations I found out that while they make a lot of Toyota’s here in America, the RAV4’s are still make in Japan.
