Two fellow bloggers that I read, Kent Newsome and Richard Querin, both have recent posts about being bored with their current slice of the blogosphere. Kent did the initial post and Richard followed up explaining his own similar views. Now Kent and Richard have always seemed like smart, reasonable, down-to-earth guys and I’ve always enjoyed any communications we’ve had. So when I read their post I naturally examined my thoughts on the subject.

First let me say that I probably read many of the same feeds as Kent and Richard. When they write about or refer to a post I usually know of it. While I can understand exactly where they are coming from about being bored with many of these feeds, my take is a little different. I enjoy observing people and figuring out what makes them tick and I haven’t had such a prime opportunity to study and observer high-schoolish behavior since I was there myself. So what is boring from Kent and Richard’s perspective (and I agree often the subject is boring) is highly entertaining and even in some cases down right funny to me.

It’s gotten to the point that I’ve even given appropriate “high school” code names to some of a-list activities I’ve observed. See if you recognize any of “the moves” described below:

note passing – I’ll link to you and then you link back to me and then we’ll link to the other cool kids in class. “No one will know what we’re doing.”

basketball practice – I’ll take this subject and dribble it a few times then I’ll past it to you and you can dribble it before you past it back to me and we’ll keep it away from the uncool kids.

name dropping – I’m going to have lunch with what’s-his-face today and then I may call Mr. So-Important and just the other day Super-Star called me and said that they hadn’t seen me in a while and were really missing me.

once at band camp – I went to this cool party last night and…now I’ve been invited to this cool convention and…

cribbing – did you ever get the feeling they were all reading off of prepared sheets…this is what “we” think of this and we will use these buzz words today and then tomorrow we’ll switch to….

So yes, you can often find me laughing out loud while reading some of the most famous A-listers…and they’ll swear they’re not trying to be funny….you guys just kill me! Hang in there Kent and Richard.
