If you have an interest in Apple Computer the next week should be interesting. The annual Apple Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) is being held at San Francisco on August 7-11. Apple will be previewing its next version of OS X, 10.5 code-named Leopard, and there are wide expectations that Apple will unveil it’s Intel Powered replacement for it’s current G5 PowerPC Professional Desktop. If Apple does in fact release a Intel desktop it will have for all purposes completed it’s transition to Intel Processors. Not only has Apple accomplish this feat in far less then a year, but they have also done so without any significant negative impact to their computer business. As a matter of fact Mac computer sales are up. An amazing feat!

There are also the normal rumors of additional new products being announced and some interesting WWDC banner photo’s that seem to indicate that part of Apple’s announcements will be of a true 64-bit machine. The current Apple Intel computers are only 32-bit.

Of course not all is bright for Apple at this moment. After an internal investigation Apple has stated that it will need to restate it’s financial statements since 2002 due to some stock grant irregularities. There is not any suspected wrong doing by chief executive Steve Jobs. Steve will be giving his usual keynote address at the event and from what I’ve seen I think Steve’s had a lot of fun this year.

I’m a true geek at heart and a Mac user, so I always enjoy these events. I do wish I could attend this year.
