I noticed the geese sunning and grooming themselves on this rock, strategically located in the middle of the river, but it was only after I slowly worked closer along the river bank and then out onto another upstream rock formation I became aware they had the company of several turtles as well. Is this space taken?

The photo was taken Sunday and upon viewing this scene a question came up about personal space and how these turtles seem comfortable climbing all over each other.
I believe you have to be self-aware to have a concept of personal space or it could be when living in a shell your personal space boundaries may [...]
