Toyota has a recall and current sales suspension on eight recent models (2009-2010) of it’s most popular automobiles for a problem which might cause the accelerator pedal to stick partially or fully open. They’ve not announced a fix yet and say it’s rare and is more likely to happen as the accelerator mechanisms become worn. [...]
Paul’s locally accurate and lovely weekend slideshow “One minute of winter” in Charlotte, NC would have been a little different if done west or north or west of his location.
Here in Salisbury, about 35-40 mile northeast of the Charlotte there was between 3-4 inches of snow — much of which still covers the [...]
Late autumn beside the river
About a month ago I was surprised by my wife giving me a Kindle electronic book reader from Amazon. While I’d looked at this devices in the past I’d always thought that I’d miss the experience of the physical book, the touch and turning of the actual pages. Receiving this device [...]
It’s never been easy for those who answered the call. We are here thanks to their willingness to serve and sacrifice. Thank-you!
I apologize to any who have wanted to make comments recently but have found the comments for a particular post closed. I never purposely close comments but this blog seems to have a mind of its own lately and is closing some at its own discretion.
I think there’s a plugin to blame. Please hang in [...]
It seems that having a dog diagnosed with Idiopathic Epilepsy* is more about a journey then a single event. I’ve added a special page to Meandering Passage for recording Foster’s experiences–see the [Foster] menu tab above the header.
I was already keeping notes of major events on a calendar but this may be a better way [...]
Awaking from a summers dream

Life is something that happens to you while you’re making other [...]
Yesterday, we attended the Back Dog Wine and Blues Festival at Chateau Morrisette Winery, Meadows of Dan near Floyd, VA. It turned out to be a full and fun day with neat perfect weather.
Coated in Sunblock 70, I didn’t suffer any sunburn but others in our small group didn’t fair as well. I’ll never forget [...]

I’m not promoting “the secret” but I thought it was a nice inspiring video. It would be nice to wake up each morning certain that this was going [...]
Last evening we drove to my sisters and brother-in-laws farm in nearby Statesville, NC, for what has become a 4th of July tradition. Friends and family converge with food around 7pm for a cook-out/picnic style meal in their yard followed by a fireworks display in an adjacent field after darkness falls.
The event seems to grow [...]
I got a new cell phone, an LG Dare. It’s a touch screen phone with some nice features. It’s not an iPhone or even a Palm Pre but it seems a capable phone/pda. The more I use it the more I’m liking it.
I’d always said I wouldn’t leave Verizon for a particular phone and I [...]
