Weekend Photo

My Nikon D300’s shutter was firing in rapid three round burst as we struggled for altitude after a mid-flight stop on the dark waters of a cove. The float planes roar, my shutters clicking, all went unnoticed as everyones attention was riveted to the amazing scenes outside the glass.

Ketchikan homes

If you stand near the main docks of Ketchikan, Alaska, looking inland and slightly westward you’ll view these neighborhood homes situated on a hillside.
To my eyes the homes fit perfectly with notions of Alaska and while this photo was take recently, May ‘08, it looks somewhat timeless.

From Glacier Bay we turned back southward to Ketchikan, AK. We arrived at Ketchikan early on Friday, May 23rd, for a scheduled six hours port call. I could have spent more time at Ketchikan…days even.
