It will be interesting to see who blinks first today with a possible downloadable music track royalty rate increase. Apple has publicly stated it may close iTunes if the increase passes.

Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event on September 9th introduced new models of the iPod Nano in “nano-chromatic” colors and an enhanced iPod Touch, all at lower prices. In addition new versions of iTunes, Quicktime, Front Row and iPhone/iPod Touch 2.1 firmware were announced with new features and enhancements.

An Apple event is scheduled for tomorrow, September 9, 2008, at 10 a.m. (Pacific Time) in San Francisco, U.S. Apples calling this event “Let’s Rock” and it’s expected to be concerning updates to the iPod line of devices as well as the introducing iTunes 8 and iPhone/iPod Touch 2.1 software.

It appears that what Apple introduced today was nothing less then total chaos 2.0.
The 3G iPhone activation has stalled with Apple/AT&T activation servers being slammed by the apparent load/demand. Tempers are rising as new owners of the 3G iPhone are experiencing long waits for activation. Some may even be leaving the stores without phones.

We have previously rejected iPods, because we refuse to capitulate to iTunes, both the application and the format, as the toll road to our musical destinations.
…Most of my movies will likely continue to be rented from Netflix but when it’s convenient for me I’ll probably rent a few from iTunes.
