Perhaps if I hide behind this tree no one will notice me…
I had a nice weekend.
My children were over on Sunday for Father’s Day and we grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Bonnie made deviled eggs, her famous bang-up barbeque baked beans and a homemade peach cobbler to accompany the dogs and burgers–no one went hungry. I [...]

This is an oldie but a goodie for me.
I searched today for a YouTube video on setting up a Nikon Dxxx camera to do hands free bracketing burst. I’d previously set this up on my D300 but wanted to be sure I didn’t forget any of the settings on my D700.
This function is [...]

Day and Night Linked
“Dusk, is just an illusion, because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are; there cannot be one without the other, yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel, I [...]

It was clear and you could see forever. In stark opposition to this blue vastness there were these green rocky islands covered with trees. The [...]

I had planned on taking advantage of the beautiful weather this week to take some photos but by Sunday I wasn’t feeling a hundred percent so I chose to stayed in. Turns out that was a wise choice.
While I enjoy being outside taking photos it’s certainly not a hardship being home and working on my [...]

The sweet spot for a DX camera.

I was out and about this morning enjoying the fall weather and taking a few shots in the local area. My first stop was a park with a wildlife habitat located not far from my house.
As in most wildlife habitats there are strict controls on how close you can get to the wildlife. As [...]

Anyone who owns a Nikon DX camera has hear of the 1.5 magnification/crop factor. This crop factor is the ratio of the dimensions of a camera’s imaging area compared to a reference format. The reference format is most often the 35 mm film format or what is called Full Frame (FX) in Nikon digital camera [...]

I received my Nikon D700 late yesterday evening and in this post have I’ve jotted down my first impressions. Many of these observations you’ve perhaps read in reviews of the D700 but it’s things I took note of at my first hands on.
Very similar in size, weight and physical control layout to the D300. A [...]
