Along The Forest PathThis first photo is a favorite walking area of mine–a forest section of a small park located not far from my home. It’s the same trail I posted a color version of on July 8th.

I worked up this black and white version made from a slightly different angle then the color one and I like it better.

When I look at this one it brings back a clear memory of being there. That’s a trait I’d like to be able to reproduce in most of my photos–I’m not there yet.

The Clearing, Paths End The second photo is at the end of the trail as it breaks into a large open clearing. I’m always a little disappointed when I reach this point and the best part of my walk is left behind.

  1. The overhanging branches and the trail leading back into the woods makes a very attractive image. It would be hard for the “clearing” shot to equal the charm of the path through the trees. Fine pictures.

  2. i can understand why you have it as a favourite place :)

  3. It is easy to see why the clearing feels like the end of the journey. I agree with Don (and you) that it can’t compete with the path with all its mystery and possibilities.

Of course, being a color addict I prefer the color version of this scene. Still, I appreciate the beauty of the the black and white version, as well as your fine craftsmanship in producing it. Lovely subtle tones.
