Satellite Dish CampingWhile walking around the lake at Dan Nicholas Park I came upon this satellite dish perched by the edge of the woods affording it a clear view of the sky. The video cable ran from the dish back through the woods disappearing from sight after several hundred feet in the direction of local campsites.

My understanding is that these campsites are short term rentals so it appears someone is camping but determined not to be “unplug.”

Now one possible explanation would be NASCAR fans having a US Memorial Day (Monday, May 25th) weekend racing/camping party watching the 50th running of the CocaCola 600 race on Sunday, May 24th, from nearby Concord, NC.

If that’s the case, I’m glad I’m not trying to have a peaceful camping weekend nearby. NASCAR and peaceful seldom travel the same path. :-)

  1. Maybe this is the modern age equivalent of ‘roughing it’. :-)
