Our trip to Alaska this spring re-instilled how much I enjoy travel and seeing new places, even if that first step out the door sometimes is hard for me to make. :-)

Widening my horizons, I begin thinking about countries and places around the world I’d like to visit someday. One of the ones which made my list was Spain. Spanish architect, traditional villages, historical structures, Spanish love of color and the beautiful natural landscapes all present great sightseeing and photography possibilities.

200808141546.jpg Perhaps a place in particular to visit would be the 2,000 year old city of Zaragoza at the head of the mighty Ebro River. Zaragoza is the capital of the Spanish providence of the same name and of the autonomous community of Aragon. As the fifth largest city in Spain (pop 600,000) it is located between Madrid and Barcelona. Zaragoza is said to be often overlooked as a tourist destination, one of the things which appeals to me even more.

Being off the beaten tourist path also presents an opportunity for finding cheap Zaragoza hotels to help stay within your vacation budget. While searching you may also want to check out other hotels of the world which could fit your budget needs.

From my research, history and art abound in this area and perhaps Zaragoza’s greatest claim to fame is being the birthplace of Spain’s finest painters, Francisco de Goya, born in 1746. Goya was the last of the old masters and is regarded as the Father of Modern Art. His frescoes adorn many of the historic buildings in and around the city as well as important works in the local museums.

Sounds like a wonderful place to visit. I shouldn’t have dropped out of Spanish language class. ;-)
