What with the foiled terror plot involving the airlines today and September rapidly approaching you might be thinking of what happened on that faithful day, 9/11. You might also be thinking about going to see Oliver Stone’s new movie “World Trade Center.” Expectations are that this movie will be popular and very successful. Last night I saw an advance screening of his new film World Trade Center– it’s a crowd pleasing, feels-good-to-feel-bad, technologically cutting-edge film that sucessfully re-creates the claustophobic fear that engulfed the city on that day. It shows, with an abundance of raw emotion and terrific acting, the horrific struggle of two men to merely stay alive against incomprehesible odds. It’s also a true story.
It’s also a steaming pile of crap.
I’m still trying to decide if I even want to see it. I certainly don’t need a movie to still be able to get in touch with the feelings and thoughts I was having on that day.
