Happy New Year!

With our RV lifestyle there’s two holidays we’ve come to dread…New Year’s and the 4th of July.  Why you might ask. We’ll, Maggie, our dog, is scared to death of fireworks. She can go into a complete meltdown/panic trying to get behind and under any and everything. Fireworks, for her, are worst then high winds and heavy rains pounding our RV or a booming thunderstorm roaring outside. We’ve tried to avoid locations with major firework celebrations…but we screwed up this year for New Years.

What were we thinking coming to a huge campground at a popular tourist beach? Last night we had Maggie drugged up on a natural calming remedy we’ve used successfully with her before, while constantly holding, stroking and talking to her to keep her from “going off the deep end.”  She did fairly well, I believed her getting older also helped, but today we are all tired and feeling a little  stressed.

The good news is most of the crowd will be leaving today or tomorrow so we should have some quieter times ahead. Go home people! :-)

However, I appreciate being here this time of year for the detailed and beautiful early morning skies which Maggie and I often enjoy during our morning walks on the beach. I’m looking forward to enjoying them with a little more peace and solitude now.

  1. Happy New Year to you, Bonnie, and Maggie Brooks. I can appreciate seeking those quiet places, especially considering I was surrounded by gunshots this morning.

    • Mark, hopefully, those shots weren’t at you! ;-) Let’s hope for some peace and quite for all of us but I wouldn’t bet on it…especially after 12pm on January 20th.

  2. And, Happy New Year to you and Bonnie. I was just talking to one of the guys at the coffee shop and they went through a stressful evening while dog sitting their sons dog. The second image is soooo inviting.

    • A Happy New Year to you too, Monte. Yes, dogs and fireworks in general don’t get along very well and Maggie is terrified of them. Thanks on the image. Glad you like it.

  3. Happy New Year! Though I seldom comment, I have been following faithfully and look forward to each post. I hope the coming year will bring new and exciting adventures. Stay safe and warm.
