A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” ― Albert Einstein

  1. Wise words and a painterly landscape to go along with it in that contemplation. My feelings though are that our minds cannot quite contemplate the magnitude that is the universe, except maybe for those like Einstein.

    • Mark, I’m not sure anyone can grasp the whole of this universe we live in. I do believe in science and that there are rules which govern these things. However, at our stage of development, those rules might seem more like magic than anything we can comprehend, even Einstein!

  2. Yes, wise words. This looks like it was somewhere within Hayden Valley.
