“Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore...” ― Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven
Our drive on Thursday from Santa Fe, NM, to Gallup, NM, was uneventful -- no warning lights and no countdown to disaster. With less-than-perfect weather forecasted for the coming weekend, we elected on Friday to drive the 70+ miles to visit the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona.
When laying out the agenda for this years travels I had to estimate how long to spend at each location and three days was definitely not enough for Santa Fe.
Oh no you didn't...Oh, yes we did! Yesterday, we took a day trip across the mountains to visit Roswell, NM. Roswell's claim to fame is a supposed UFO crash in early July,1947.
We spent the evening sitting on a dune at White Sands National Monument watching an outstanding sunset. It was 360º whole-sky-beautiful! Of course Maggie was enjoying being out and about as well.
