The Window Rock, Window Rock, Arizona

I’ve been making a good many photos and have gotten behind in processing them. This image of the Window Rock in Window Rock, Arizona, was made during our explorations while staying in Gallup, New Mexico. Also at this location, was a memorial to the Navajo Code Talkers who served so honorably in the Pacific during World War II.

Here’s a little more information about the significants of the city of Window Rock, Arizona.

“Window Rock (Navajo: Tségháhoodzání) is a small city that serves as the seat of governmental capital of the Navajo Nation, the largest territory of a Sovereign Native American Nation in North America. It lies within the boundaries of the St. Michaels Chapter, adjacent to the Arizona and New Mexico state line. Window Rock hosts the Navajo Nation governmental campus which contains the Navajo Nation Council, Navajo Nation Supreme Court, the offices of the Navajo Nation President and Vice President, and many Navajo government buildings.” ~~ Wikipedia

We’re leaving Gallup this morning for Alamogordo so we won’t see it this time, either. Thanks to your image, I no longer have to wonder if it would have been worth the extra time. Damn!

    • Two people in the same place will always see (or go see) different things. The Window Rock is located just behind some of the Navajo Nation offices. I wouldn’t drive a long ways to see it but if in the area…
