As of today we’re official residents of Florida…just waiting a few days for the trailer title and tag to be processed. It went very smoothly.

It does feel a little strange since we’ve both only ever had North Carolina drivers licenses.

Just a note, the North Carolina DMV could learn a few things from Florida DMV.

  1. Official residents of Florida but not there. I like that. Just keep the smile on your face and posting reports for us.

  2. I suppose the good news here is that you might become another vote against Rick Scott! Although I’m guessing you’ll be casting absentee ballots, huh?

So when will you heading out of the Sunshine State? It’s gotta be getting a little warm down there…….

    • Yes, we’ll be casting absentee ballots.

Here on the coast it’s been getting into the mid-80s recently but there’s usually always a nice breeze. We leave this location on the 15th of May and head a little further north-west to Crestview, FL, for a few days to have routine service performed on our truck.

From there it depends upon what develops with something we’ve happened upon from meeting another RV’ing couple at this resort. Something which may shape our future course. Stay tuned…more info later.

  3. Congratulations on your Florida residency. That was quick! Now, you can live a nice, state tax free existence! When I retire, I’ll certainly be heading out of NC to one of the states that doesn’t have income tax, but certainly not Texas. Been there. Done that. Won’t do it again. Too hot. Too flat. :)

    • Thanks, Paul. Yes, we had researched what all paperwork we needed and had it at hand. Getting our new drivers licenses and registering our vehicles were done in a matter of hours — very efficient.

Yeah, we passed on Texas and certainly not North Dakota…Florida seemed convenient.

  4. Congratulations on your new residency. Does this mean you have to eat dinner at 4 PM?

    • LOL…Ken, most times we hardly know what day of the week it is, and we eat whenever we’re hungry, even if it’s 4PM…what a unique concept. :-)
