Shockwave in blue-green – Brazilian Agate with back-lighting

A change up today from posting autumn photos — this image of backlit Brazilian Agate.

It appears this site is back to normal server resource usage since the “80legs” bot/web-crawler was blocked.  Where it had been requiring between 4-6 hours of sever CPU processing time a day, it’s now requiring less then an hour — I guess they’re going to let us stay. :-)

  1. Glad you’re staying. :-) Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Beautiful photograph, Earl. I’m glad that you will get to hang around! :) Now, you’ll have to start reconstructing your blog.

    • Steve, thanks. I never really left…I was just in the witness protection program for a few days! :-)

  3. Problem solved and a cool photo. Looks like we’re the lucky ones.

    • Ken, thanks! I try to find something positive to take away from even bad situations. In this case i certainly learned a great deal about the inner workings of web servers and WordPress — now if I’m lucky I’ll never have to use that information again. :-)

      I hope you’re enjoying that D600!!

  4. I like the lines and colors of this photo. Very nice. Glad you didn’t have to shut down, also!

    • Hi Tom, thanks. Oh, I would have just moved to a new host and been back up in a few days. But my problems, that web-crawer, probably would have followed me. Still, I’m glad that didn’t happen.

  5. Whoa! It seems I missed a few things here Earl. I have been mainly visiting via my iPad/iPhone and it doesn’t show the full page gamut of posts like visiting via normal Mac Safari does. I like this dreamy representation of Brazilian Agate. Also glad you got things sorted out with your host. I have been there, and don’t wish it upon anyone.

Do you by chance have Bad Behavior installed? I installed it after my last attack and it has been working diligently at bouncing those idiots away. Well, off to catch up on some other post reading…

    • Mark, I’ve not noticed any missing front page posts on an iPad…they all seem to be there, at least on my iPad, they just get pushed down the page further due to limited width? Thanks, glad you like the agate.

I do have Bad Behavior installed. It didn’t do a thing with this rogue search engine. They we’re spamming my site just searching it too often and too fast…for what purpose I don’t know.
