My daughter arrived for a long weekend (her birthday’s Saturday) so yesterday afternoon we drove two hours to Cary, North Carolina, to see Alison Krauss and Union Station, with Jerry Douglas, at Cary’s Booth Amphitheater — a sold out show. I’ve never been a huge Alison Krauss fan but it was an excellent show and there’s no argument they’re all very talented musicians — much unlike some of the “teeny music stars” these days.
This was another reminder to me about being open to new experiences and being willing to reevaluate previous assumptions.
I had only my iPhone camera, so while the concert was going on I played around with taking some shots with it. The conditions would have tested the best of cameras and the iPhone struggled to deal with the tonal range — fine detail is lacking but still some pleasing impressionistic shots.
We didn’t arrive back until after 1am and I was up at 6am this morning walking the dogs…it’s going to be a long day! ;-)

The crowd and stage shot is very good. It does a good job of conveying the atmosphere of the place. The amphitheater shot makes a fine compositiion… I especially like the low sunlight falling on the standards.

Surprisingly good quality for iPhone shots. I have pretty much abandoned the phone camera except is an emergency. Enjoy your daughters b’day and have a good weekend!
