ReederI’ve used the Apple compatible “NetNewsWire” feed reader for years and although I’ve tried other products, including Google Reader, I keep coming back. However, after a couple of weeks with “Reeder” that’s changed.

It’s not that NetNewsWire isn’t still a very good reader, it certainly is, but “Reeder” seems to be of a fresher design and with my subscribed feeds, equipment and network a smoother and faster solution.

Reeder does require a Google Reader account as it uses Google Reader for syncing keeping all “Reeder devices” at the same read/not-read status. This also means if you’re on the road and you read your news feeds directly in a browser on Google Reader, Reeder will be aware of the changes the next time you access it.

On the Mac, NetNewsWire has a free ad supported version or a no-ad version for $14.95. NetNewsWire is also available for the iPad and iPhone. Reeder for the Mac is $9.99 and can be found in the Apple App Store. Reeder is also available for the iPad and iPhone.

I thought I’d share my experiences and if you’re looking for a multi-mac feed reading application I’d recommend giving “Reeder” a consideration. It works for me.

  1. Sweet, I was just looking at this thing on their website a couple of days ago. I wanted to get a mount to do some Timelapse photography, it seems solid enough to hold a large SLR with a big lens.

Anywa, I use Google Reader for Feeds, I’m not really too thrilled with Feeders anyway, it gets the job done..all one place. I still like doing it the old school way of going to each site :|. Speaking of Feeds, what’s a good way to promote feeds other than listing them on your site?
