Cardinal among the leaves

I want to thank all those who were kind enough to share what they saw/read in the previous post image. It was indeed interesting to hear the “story” each person read from the image details…all very different and unique. It certainly makes one stop and consider how our individual filters work and proves it’s dangerous making assumptions of the perceived meaning of any image one might post.

I decided to do a lighter and softer processing for this image of a cardinal in a tree…at least I hope everyone sees it as that. ;-)

After a streak of darker, high contrast images I felt the need to mix it up with a lighter touch.

  1. Image perception is definitely a double edge sword. It brings out emotions from individuals that are disconnected from the actual event and is left for interpretation for sure. The same image can tell the truth or create a very different reality of what actually happened. Photos are very powerful tools.

I love the bokeh of this photo, smooth round circles that’s very pleasing. I’m not really a ‘birder’, mainly because I’ve never owned lenses long enough to capture them, but I can appreciate this wonderful summer photo. Nice shot!

    • Hi NR, Well stated. Photos may indeed be worth a thousand words but they’ll not likely be exactly the same words to any two people.

I appreciate your comments on the photo. I’m not a “birder” either…I don’t have the overall patience for it. However, when a bright red cardinal boldly flies into a tree beside me, he’s going to get his photo made! ;-)

  2. I like this softer version. The Cardinal still has plenty of contrast with the greens behind him.
    Nice one.
