  1. Beautiful image, Earl. We’re about 3 months away from seeing any color like this, and I sure miss it. thanks.

    • Ken, thanks! There is not much color here beyond this. I’m sure you’re more than ready for spring this year. Hang in there! :-)

  2. Great that you are willing to photograph the ordinary and subtle and make a fine image from it. That breed of photographer may be dying out. Long may you wave.

    • David, I had to stop and think about your comment for a moment. I believe the secret’s not perceiving it as ordinary in the first place. ;-) Thanks!

  3. Earl,

Nice to see some lovely color. All we have around here is “white”, haha.

    • Yeah, Alan, I know you guys in the New England area have gotten walloped by winter this year. Trust me, they still say there’ll be a spring this year…even in New England! :-)

  4. When I see something like this, I immediately think something must be wrong with these colorful fruits for an animal to have left them behind for so long during winter time.

    • Mark, I agree there’s a reason why those berry’s haven’t been eaten. Obviously the forest creatures know they’re not fit to eat, perhaps from past experiences. Poison? I don’t know, but I didn’t see any little dead animal bodies littered under the bush. ;-)

  5. Wow! Rich red and purple side by side brought out beautifully in this image. Well seen. Sunshine aside, we don’t have much color here and it appears we are in for quite a lot of the white stuff. As much as this photo tempts me, I won’t get my heart set on spring coming early this year.

    • Anita, there’s not an abundance of color here yet ether I believe that’s why this shot called out to me. Thanks!

  6. That’s a beautiful image! I love the depth and composition a lot. The vibrant red of the berries complement the otherwise wintry dull tones very well. Great work!

    • Thanks you very much, Martina. I was seeking color and these berry’s and purple leaves definitely provided it.
