Radio Controlled Buggies
Rock crawling, small scale

While at the river park on Sunday the local Radio Controlled (RC) Club was having fun practicing their craft on the rocks formations.

They also set up courses and have competitions for speed and accuracy. It’s absolutely amazing what these little RC buggies can climb — almost vertical. Of course I’m sure it takes a lot of skill at the controls to make it look so easy.

It seems like a wonderful activity for bonding with the kids.

While fun watching, I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos as well.

  1. I like that you showed us the people watching the controllers. Nice close up too.

    • Hi Don, sometimes I’ll photograph people and sometimes not. Like you, I thought it added to the story in this case. Thanks!

  2. Jeez, Earl, you call this winter?? Where’s the ice? Where are the wool hats and gloves? Up here, we’d call that almost summer! Must be nice…..

  3. I don’t know how you could have resisted taking some photos of these guys. It must have been watching the mini-buggies.

    • What was fun was seeing how much they were enjoying and absorbed in the activities…both adults and children.

  4. Earl,

Very cool photos. Bonding with kids is awesome, and RC looks like a lot of fun. Nice shots, and you do have more of them, correct?

    • Alan, thanks. I made about 40 photos of the RC Club and buggies. Most of them were just snapshots.

  5. I’m with Paul, where’s the snow and ice? I like the reportage feel you have in these images. In the first one we all four looking and listening to the RC operator. Great facial expressions on them.

  6. Thanks, Monte. I believe the North East and Mid-West sucked all the snow and ice away from here — but that’s okay they can keep it. We did have a light dusting of snow this morning…does that count? ;-)

    • One thing I like about this Colorado weather verses the Ohio valley and Northeast are the days of sunshine. Even when the temperatures are at zero the sun will shine. :-)
