Wide angle spring
Wide Angle Spring

I finally took my Toyota in this morning to have the recall notice work done concerning the sticking accelerator pedal. I doubt that this was the caused of some/all of those reported incidents but then there doesn’t seem to be any absolutely trustworthy source of news/information anymore — they all have their motivations, angles and spins. Perhaps they always did bit it’s a shame that trust is so lacking. Even those individuals reporting incidents in some cases are suspect. With the recall fix and a normal oil change/check-up it took about 2.5 hours.

What wonderful weather recently — cool nights and comfortably warm days. This is what April should be about.

While shooting recently I switched to a ultra wide angle 14-24mm f/2.8 zoom lens. I really like the way this lens makes me, as the photographer, view scenes differently. This lens is so wide on a full frame camera that it requires certain allowances in composition forcing a different and often fresher view. It’s nice switching to this lens and getting the “wow” factor when first looking through the view finder. When shooting in portrait mode I’m always finding my shoes tips in the bottom of the photos. ;-)

Both the image above and the photo in “A view of spring” were with this lens. In this photo I wanted to use the wideness to play along the branch of blooms. For me, it makes it feel like I’m more in the scene — your experience may vary. At 14mm, f/9.0, the depth of field is evident as you follow the limb.

  1. Seeing the sky and your feet at the same time, now that’s one heck of a view!

    • Steve, with this lens at 14mm on my D700, shooting portrait mode, I’ve taking a number of photos which unplanned have included the toes of my shoes. :-)
