Along the morning pathI didn’t post this weekend, not even my “Weekend Photo” post. I think this lapse of productivity was due to my continual battle with a head cold, weekend dinner and Christmas Party commitments, and a general lack of motivation on my part.

That last “reason” is probably the truer cause! ;-)

I’m pulling a photo for this post taken in October this year. I like how the early morning sun highlights the uppermost leaves and the tension provided by the tree trunk just right of center, taller then the rest. The combination draws the eye back down the path and then up to the clearing among the tree tops. In post-processing I went for a soft focus to give a more dreamy appearance.

As a note, last week I met Paul for lunch while he was in town from Charleston. I hadn’t seen him in a while and as always it was pleasure talking to him over lunch.

  1. I must say that I enjoyed it immensely, Earl. My only regret is that I don’t get to do it more often.

  2. I like your honesty, Earl. We need to schedule a time when I can have lunch with both of you guys. I would like to meet you guys, get in some shop talk and enjoy a meal. We’ll let Paul pay! :-)

I think you do an awesome job of keeping up with posts and also providing some really good content as well as images. I guess we move along at our own pace.

  3. @Paul – I agree.

@Monte Stevens – Thanks Monte, it would be great meeting up sometime…I’m sure Paul wouldn’t mind paying! ;-)

  4. I like the feel of the shot today. The softness does add to the appeal of the image. The lone, very tall tree certainly grabs attention. Very nice image.

  5. Nope. I wouldn’t mind paying at all. Monte, you’re the guy with all of the air miles, come on into Charlotte and let’s do it! I’m paying!!!

  6. Let’s see what we can do after the first of the year. I’ll see what my schedule looks like for January on the 20th of this month. It would be cool.

  7. I think it’s unfortunate I have no customers wanting me to make business trips to the US, in particular your part of the World. Otherwise, I would have loved to have lunch with you guys any time.

My productivity has decreased severely the late months, but I don’t really think it’s a bad thing. I have a lot of work, thank Someone for that, and I need the money too. The jobs include photography, though more technical shoots of circuit boards and such. I get to exercise the camera at work, which I like. I think I will revive in late January. Until then, I’ll focus on work and surviving Christmas.

  8. Btw, I just saw the column to the right, and the viewing numbers on your more technical blog posts, I’m impressed. :-)

  9. Of course, I am taking comfort in the fact that someone else finds the need to take breaks. I am glad you pulled the lovely October photo.

  10. @all – Thanks everyone!
