2009 Fall Foliage

I spotted this arrangement of fallen leaves on a dark wet asphalt parking lot and took this photo from directly above. The hues are enhanced greatly by the wetness from the rain and most of these leaves look fresh and recently fallen. Nature made a much better arrangement then I could every achieved.

While there may still be a random fall foliage photo or two, this marks the official end of the fall foliage series. It seems like a good photo to end with–leaves laying on the ground.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and Happy Halloween!

Nature is hard to beat when it comes to such arrangements – and the process of selecting can become difficult. Here that bluish background emphasizes the warmth of the leaves’ color very well, but the signs of decay keep the image from drifting into clichee.

The blue background takes this one into the very special category. I also agree with Monte that the signs of decay further ground the image. The beginnings of decay add a lovely touch of fragility. I love the sense of movement that the arrangement contributes.

Nature’s random look is very good. A fine fall shot! Have a fun, safe Halloween.

Your image shows the artistic ability of nature and how it can create enjoyment for us. I sometimes stop in my tracks as I see what colored leaves on payment and even taken a few images myself. The pavement provides a good background.

@All – I’ve gotten behind in replying to comments individually so I hope it suffices to simply say thank you all! :-)
