2009 Fall Foliage - 01

Fair warning, this week is going to be fall foliage week on Meandering Passage. ;-)

Salisbury, NC, is a small town which, like many, has a historic homes district with lush lawns, gardens and trees. It’s a nice area to walk about and take photographs. When photographing in this part of town I often get looks from people curious about what I’m doing.

I noticed this was especially true when shooting photos Saturday in the rain–no doubt they wondered if I was of my right mind or if I was up to no good. Most of these frowns and stares changed to smiles and waves as they followed the direction my camera to see the bright trees and leaves. Then it seemed more reasonable to be standing in the rain taking photos.

We’ll look forward to it. Fall is my season to embrace, and this has been a lovely, colorful one. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I like seeing the fall colors. Interesting explanation of your walk through the neighborhood. An appealing shot today!

  3. @QPB (Mary Ann) – I absolutely love fall too so there will be some bright colors this week! :-)

@don – Thanks, Don. I think this particular neighborhood keeps an eye on “unusual characters” in the neighborhood as part of the neighborhood watch program–I guess I qualify as one. ;-)

  4. Doing those things other people see as strange can be well worth the stares, even a few laughs. So, show us what ya got, Earl!

  5. Ha! Just imagine if you had a long lens pointed at those houses and tried to convince them you were only photographing the leaves… :-)

  6. @Monte Stevens – Well, I hope they don’t disappoint. ;-)

@Mark – That’s probably what they were thinking…I was some type of peeping tom. I kept smiling, nodding and waving–just the friendliest guy they’ve ever seen. :-o

  7. If you suddenly disappear, we’ll all know to check with the local police. Locals may be talking about the guy casing people’s houses and in the rain, no less.

  8. @Anita Jesse – Luckily there hasn’t been any reported crimes in the area associated to this “very strange guy.” ;-)
