The Fallen Ones

The Fallen

The same basic scene as todays earlier photo but with a different focus.

A Fallen Leaf

A trusting little leaf of green,

A bold audacious frost;

A rendezvous, a kiss or two,

And youth for ever lost.

Ah, me!

The bitter, bitter cost.

A flaunting patch of vivid red,

That quivers in the sun;

A windy gust, a grave of dust,

The little race is run.

Ah, me!

Were that the only one.

– Ella Wheeler Wilcox

An interesting change of focus and DOF. Good shooting experimentation.

That shallow DoF version works well for me – and it’s a good transformation of that feeling of solitude in Wilcox’s poem.

I like this one a bit better personally if I had to pick. It I a nice perspective that really changes what is being communicated.

Rest assured, the d700 does quite well in the rain. :-)

I agree with Mark. As much as I liked yesterday’s photo, I prefer this one. This one succeeds in pulling me even deeper into the scene emotionally.

@All: It seems everyone prefers this version over the last…good, that validates my feelings as well. :-)

I really love this photo. It definitely draws you right down the path, and gives me the impression I like a fall photo to give–that fall is earthy, wet, and colorful. Great picture.

@Mary Ann – Thanks, I’m glad you liked the photo. For certain I can testify this particular day was earthy and wet! ;-)
