Back in June I posted the rumor of the Nikon D300s that included SD storage and video capabilities. Well it’s more then rumor as Nikon introduced it today.

The D300s practically replaces the regular D300 and adds 720p, 24FPS video recording inherited from the D90 but with several improvements: it can now autofocus while shooting movies, change the color and tone of videos, and attach an external microphone. The autofocusing system is now faster than the D300 and, because it tracks 51 points instead of the D90’s 11, can better follow a given subject. – Nikon intros D300s with HD video – electronista

They increased the frames per second continuous shooting to 7 FPS, there’s a dedicated live view button, but they left the core camera at 12.3 megapixels with the same ISO sensitivity range.

Nothing that is of great interest to me except perhaps the faster autofocus…but to me not worth the upgrade if you already have a D300.

Nikon also introduced a new entry level DSLR, the D3000 as well as a number of lens redesigns and upgrades, including a new 70-200mm F/2.8.

  1. Gotta keep the consumers buying! Nothing of interest to me. Keep moving! :-)
