When I made this photo my attention was of course focused on this beautiful blue and black dragonfly. It was only when reviewing the photograph during post processing I noticed the wonderful purple/magenta/green colors mixed together in the bokeh qualities of the background. I love those colors together.
I was lucky to get the photo at all–shooting handheld at 300mm from approximately 8 feet under low light conditions–thank goodness for Nikon’s VR function and a sometimes steady hand. 
Note: I’ve another photo of this same dragonfly in black and white I may publish later.

How lovely. Those colors set off the dragonfly beautifully. I love those little surprise gifts we sometimes get in a photograph.
