_EBM1569.jpg Fall is by far my favorite season and I love watching the leaves go through their cycle of colors.

I may differ from most people in that I prefer the earlier part of the season when bright yellow and red highlights abound but green still composes much of the forest canvas. For me, this is more appealing then when perhaps more leaves have turned but brown is beginning to register in greater quantities.

_EBM1478.jpg Weather wise and seasonally speaking, today was a near perfect day to visit the local mountains.

We travelled northwest to the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, gaining access north of Mt. Airy, NC, and drove southwest to near Sparta, NC, before heading home.

I was expecting more traffic but I guess for most people the high point for autumn colors is still a couple of weeks away.

It was an easy day trip that was restful and inspiring.
