Rain, birthday and a new toy

I’ve been amazed as of late how quickly time seems to pass. A sure sign of getting older I’m told so I guess it’s fitting that today’s my birthday. I won’t go into great detail but let’s just say that I’m five years short of my sixth decade.

It’s been raining steady much of the day. Being in a drought, rain is a very welcomed event under any circumstance.

The only downside to the rain today is that with some of my birthday money I purchased a 50mm f/1.8 AF Primary Lens for my Nikon D200 camera and I could have appreciated a bit better weather to try it out.

Still I’ve gotten in a few shots and like what I see so far. This is my first primary lens, all the others being zooms, and it has to be the best bargain going at about $100. It’s small and light compared to my other lens, so much so that it changes the balance of the camera…not worst, just different. 200803071732.jpg

    Happy Birthday Earl!!!

Glad to hear you got the 50mm f1.8 lens. I have the same (only Canon of course) and it is definitely my favourite lens - the 85mm f1.8 runs a close second. I think you’ll find that wide aperture to be very useful for shallow depth of field shots and the fixed length just means you’ve got to zoom with your feet instead of your fingers. At your age you need the exercise anyway. ;)

    Cheers!

    Richard,

    LOL…Thanks, I can’t disagree with exercise part! :-)

Go, Earl! Go! I love that 50 mm. It’s my favorite lens. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy it. Happy birthday! I’m still a year older than you, or so. :-)

Thanks Paul. Ummm…no you’re not, are you? I just reread my post and realized that it perhaps didn’t read the way I had intended it too (I’ll have to do an edit). I’m five decades plus 5.

Nothing worst then being caught lying about your age! LOL ;-)
