Memories of past snows

We awoke this morning to a light covering of snow. DSC_0001-1.jpg

I’m living in the same general geographical area as I grew up in. My childhood memories are filled with large snowstorms events and the sledding fun that surrounded the fall of snow.

However, recent memories don’t include snows of any size. Whatever the cause, we don’t have much of a winter in North Carolina any more. At least not like those I remember as a child.DSC_0016-2.jpg

The schools are closed today (it doesn’t take much to close them here) and looking out the window traffic seems to be light. Perhaps many people are taking advantage of having a reason for a late start this morning and enjoying a few childhood memories of their own.

It won’t last long. The precipitation has turned to rain and temperatures are climbing above freezing.

It’s still nice for a few moments to recall those warm memories of colder and younger times.

Ah, yes. I remember my days growing up in Akron, OH and the fun that we had with snow. As for the schools, it was very rare for us to use even one fo the 5 emergency days that we were allotted. Today’s snowfall wouldn’t have even counted as snow!!!

I got out this morning, drove to work, and am sitting here in a veritable ghost town. Most people are working from home today. It’s kind of funny.

In Minnesota out winters have become wimpy as well. Not much snow and not wind like we used to get.
