PRESS RELEASE: Apple and Think Secret have settled their lawsuit, reaching an agreement that results in a positive solution for both sides. As part of the confidential settlement, no sources were revealed and Think Secret will no longer be published… (December 20, 2007)

For Nick Ciarelli of Think Secret this is may be a winning situation in that he didn’t have to reveal his sources and he can continue his education without this lawsuit hanging over his head.

I’m not sure it’s a win for Apple long term. They’re receiving a lot of bad PR and it doesn’t speak well for Apple’s heavy-handed legal tactics.

Apple’s success in shutting down Think Secret may serve to shut up the next site that would find themselves with inside information or information that Apple might consider as trade secrets.

For all of us readers this is a lost.
