Moving to Ecto3 because of Leopard

by Earl Moore on October 28, 2007

After upgrading to Apple OS X 10.5, Leopard, I quickly made the discovery that Ecto 2, the desktop blogging client I’ve been using, doesn’t work. I’ve had a copy of the newer version Ecto 3 for some time but I’d never moved to it because I was comfortable with the older one.

Ecto 3 seems to work with Leopard so I am making a quick switch to the new client. Ecto 3 handles images differently and I’m hoping I can still do the same things with images that I did with the older version.

If this works correctly you’ll be seeing a photo above.

If not then back to the drawing board. :-)

weird ecto 2.x seems to work just fine for me under leopard… what issues did you find? I also am not so keen on ecto3 since handy things I liked before have not vanished…

I’m slowly fixing each leopard issue on software slowly.. shame developers didnt check stuff better!!!

    naquada,

For me, ecto 2.x works until the point where you try to save a new draft. At that point the application crashes without doing the save.
It happens for every time I try to save a draft.

Strange that it still works for you…

ecto3 is okay but I miss the template features for posting images. Also ecto3 is still buggy and development seems very slow.
