The rumor mills are once again turning at full speed as September 5th has been identified as the the date of a future Apple press event.

What is being rumored for this event is the announcement of new iPods, some running Mac OS X and perhaps full-screened, much like the iPhone.

While this is indeed rumor, logic tells us it’s more about the when then the what.  It’s probable that Apple will at some point introduce iPods running OS X with a full touch screen.  This technology has already been displayed in the iPhone and it would be unreasonable for Apple not to scale it to their iPod product line.

UPDATE 08/28/07:

Apple has confirmed that it will hold a special event on September 5th.
