My wife and I both felt the need for a little get away today so we went to the Black Dog Wine & Jazz Festival at the Chateau Morrisette vineyards just off the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.

We were joined there by our newly-wedded daughter and son-in-law, plus a crowd of others, for a wonderful day in the not too hot Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains as we listened to wonderful Jazz music in a natural mountain amphitheater located at the Winery.

There were three main music venues offered throughout the day with:

Le HotClub de Biglick performing Gypsy Jazz in the in the upper terrace, front and center of the Winery.

Melva Houston, winning the crowd with her heart felt jazz renditions and charm in the amphitheater; and

Deborah Liles performing near the on-site restaurant.

The music was hot, the wine was cool and a great time seemed to be had by all.  There’s something healing about being outside listening to good music while sipping on a good wine with friends.

Each time we go to one of these events at Chateau Morrisette we come back with our spirits recharged.

ah..you are talking about the two loves of my life, a good wine and music. As a musician I get to many concerts (my own) and after the concert, I like to unwind with a fine glass of wine.
