Jeremy Toeman at Live Digitally believes that next Tuesday’s Apple Mac announcement may be an ultra-portable tablet Mac not a revised iMac line.  In his post, Jeremy gives a number of reasons why he believes this.

I do believe that eventually Apple will product a tablet model based upon touch screen technology similar to that used in the iPhone, but I don’t think it will be next Tuesday for the following reasons:

  • Apple wouldn’t want to steal away the spotlight from the iPhone so soon after it’s introduction.  Not a good business move.
  • It’s drawing near to the holiday buying season and the consumer iMac is getting a little long in the tooth.  They are due an update.
  • I think an ultra-portable tablet Mac would warrent a big announcement at one of the major Apple gatherings such as Mac World or the World Wide Apple Development conference.

Another possibility that’s not been mentioned, is that we could see some of the new touch screen technology in the new iMacs along with the new “flat” keyboard to match a newer slimmer iMac design.  This user friendly technology would certainly find a welcomed home in consumer computers.
