My son Aaron has been a regular reader of this blog and I decided I would offer him an opportunity to contribute….  Aaron, being 26, has a completely fresh and different view of computers, media and the Internet then I do.  I hope that this new viewpoint will be entertaining to the readers as well as inspiring for me.

Unsanity’s Shapeshifter 2.4

With Shapeshifter you can either drastically change how OS X looks, or just make some minor changes here and there….  You also have the option to completely change almost every aspect of a theme on your own with the guiTweak app. Some of the themes will also change icons, most have desktop pictures included, lots of them have various color schemes to choose from.  I ended up going with a very simple theme, just a few visual and color changes to the windows and menus, different glyphs for minimizing or closing windows, and a different icon set.Overall I don’t see this program as a tool to turn OS X into something else, it just gives it a makeover.

Not only has Steve come out with public statements outlining the future “green” path Apple is taking but most recently Apple is offering a new program that gives schools a chance to recycle their old computers rather than send them to landfills…and they don’t have to be Macs! The California-based firm also pledged to shoulder most of the burden for the effort. Aside from placing the computers on cargo palettes, schools could take a hands-off approach: Apple would collect the systems itself and destroy anything that could become a security risk if left alone…. Hard drives in particular would be broken into “confetti-sized” pieces, Apple said..No matter what the reasons for this action I think it’s a good effort.

I think it’s kind of a cult thing, but if any of you are fans of Science Fiction/Horror B-Movies then you’ll get a kick out of this video.
