Thoughts for the Holidays

Ever since we purchase our current home there has been a long term discussion between my wife and I of getting a dog. We both love dogs and have had them in the past, but because we take such a commitment very seriously we’ve been hesitating about actually doing it…until this week.

Yes, we started the process to adopt a cute little Basset Hound/mix puppy named Foster (see picture).¬† We’re adopting Foster from a local rescue agency that cares for and places pets with good long term families.¬† The adoption process is rather involved including filling out an application, having references checked, and home visits.¬† They do a good job in trying to make sure that you are making a permanent commitment and that you and the pet will be happy.¬† Things look good that we will be able to get Foster after the first of the year.¬† We look forward to welcoming him to our family.

It’s hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us again.¬† I’ve had my shopping done for some time and all the presents are wrapped. Because of our multiple family situation we do our big family gathering on Christmas Eve.¬† Our four grown children and a couple of their significant others will all be here for that day with gift exchange later in the evening.¬† My wife and I save our gifts to each other for Christmas, which is a simple quiet day shared by the two of us.¬†

I wish everyone a great holiday season.
