I don’t think it is as simple as two Microsoft competitors getting together to fight for the desktop.¬† I’m guessing that Steve Jobs may well be shopping for someone to step into his shoes. This would not be out of character for Apple which has a strong history of bringing in outside talent as opposed to promoting from within.
